
Hengstler Encoders are designed to meet the normal temperature limits of the typical applications for each model. Typically Hengstler Incremental encoders will operate within a range of -10 - +70°C, and standard Hengstler Absolute encoders within -40 - +85°C. This is a guideline and we advise that each individual product be checked for minimum and maximum operating temperatures by referring to the product data sheets.
Hengstler manufacture a selected range of encoders that are suitable for maximum operating temperatures of 100°C (minimum -40°C). These include the special purpose Hengstler ACURO-XR stainless steel absolute encoder, the Hengstler AC58 BiSS/SSi absolute encoders, and the Hengstler RI58T and RI76T incremental encoders. In the latter case the "T" in the part number identifies the high temperature version of a standard product.
The explosion proof testing and certification requirements of Hengstler encoders limit the maximum operating temperature to +40°C.
The maximum continuous operating speed for Hengstler ATEX Encoders may be lower at 100°C than for standard industrial applications. Alway check the data sheet of the model you select. The same advice applies to resolution.
Your requirements may be special in ways other than high temperature, e.g. protection class, corrosion resistance, bearing life, shock and vibration. Please contact The Encoder Company for special engineering advice.
