High Temperature Encoders

Hengstler Encoders are designed to meet the normal temperature limits of the typical applications for each model. Typically Hengstler Incremental encoders will operate within a range of -10 - +70°C, and standard Hengstler Absolute encoders within -40 - +85°C. This is a guideline and we advise that each individual product be checked for minimum and maximum operating temperatures by referring to the product data sheets.

Wind Turbines

Hengstler manufacture a selected range of encoders that are suitable for maximum operating temperatures of 100°C (typically minimum -40°C). These include the special purpose Hengstler AR62 / AR63 series submersible absolute encoders, the Hengstler AC58 BiSS/SSi industrial absolute encoders, and the Hengstler RI58T, TD & TG and RI76TD incremental encoders. In the latter case the "T" in the part number identifies the high temperature version of a standard product.

The HD, HSD and DWD range is co-branded Hengstler and NorthStar. These are special purpose heavy duty encoders that also available with ATEX and NEMA certification. If the ATEX versions are required then the maximum operating temperate is reduced to 80°C.

Do You Need a Special Version High Temperature Encoder?

Your requirements may be special in ways other than high temperature, e.g. protection class, corrosion resistance, bearing life, shock and vibration. Please contact The Encoder Company for special engineering advice.
